What to expect at Cabins of Birch Hollow

We are pleased that you have chosen Cabins of Birch Hollow for your getaway to the Red River Gorge/Natural Bridge area of Kentucky.  Whether you choose rustic or deluxe, we’re sure you will enjoy your stay at the cabin of your choice.  The following information will help you have a relaxing stay with us.  If you have any questions that are not answered here, please feel free to call or email us.

WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET:

Our guests are always surprised that when they get to their cabin, it is just as they saw on our web site.  We take care to see that the photos you see on the site are for real because we are the ones taking the pictures.  We try to keep them updated and fresh!  We pride ourselves on the homey nature of our cabins so that you, our guests, feel right at home.

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT TIMES:

Check-in time is 3:00 PM or after.  Checkout time is by 11:00 AM.  We cannot accommodate late checkouts, however, we will work with you for an early check-in…we know you are excited to begin your getaway.  We do ask that you leave your cabin in the condition in which you found it with the dishes washed and the trash in proper receptacles.  Please secure the cabin when departing.

LOCATION:

Our cabins are located on individually owned, private and secluded properties in the surrounding areas.  We strive to maintain the privacy and seclusion of the cabins so that you can have your own private haven while you are here.  In some areas, you can walk right out your door to hiking trails, beautiful rock formations and be fishing in no time at all.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY:

Each cabin has a maximum number of guests allowed.
NO OVERNIGHT VISITORS ALLOWED, registered and paid guests only, please.

SMOKING:

Smoking is prohibited at ALL cabins.  Smoking is permitted outside on the decks, ashtrays are provided.  Please respect our properties and do not litter the area with cigarette butts.

PETS:

Because some guests have severe pet allergies, any pet that is found in a "non-pet friendly" will result in the immediate eviction and an additional $150.00 pet cleaning fee.    If you reserve a "pet friendly" cabin, there will be a one time charge of $50.00 (1 pet limit).  Pet must be crated when left in the cabin unattended or eviction will occur with no money refunded.

WHAT IS SUPPLIED AT YOUR CABIN:

All of our cabins are completely furnished.  The kitchens are fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, coffee maker (with filters) and a microwave.  The kitchens are equipped with basic cookware, dishes, utensils, pots and pans.  We provide a starter supply only of paper towels, toilet tissue and dishwashing soap.  Towels and linens are provided.  There is also a gas or charcoal grill provided.  If there is a specialty item you need for cooking, we suggest you bring it with you.

SUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING:

Food (including coffee/tea), toiletries, DVD’s, beach towels, flashlight, games and books, camera, binoculars, hiking boots, bug spray, matches and a prepaid calling card.  Most of our cabins have city water and although the water is perfectly safe, you may want to bring bottled water.

HOT TUBS:

Most of the property owner's have installed hot tubs for their personal use.  Owner's do allow guests to use these hot tubs at their own risk, with the knowledge that they are in no way regulated or approved by the Powell County Health Department.  We strive to provide clean and sanitized conditions always.  We ask that you abide by the hot tub procedures, rules and precautions posted at each hot tub.  If the hot tub rules are not adhered to, there will be an additional charge to the credit card on file for the expense of the draining and cleaning of the hot tub.

HOUSEKEEPING:

We do not provide daily maid service.  Your cabin will be cleaned especially for you prior to your arrival.  We will do everything we can to make sure your cabin is ready for your stay.  It is our mission to provide you the cleanest cabin in all of the Red River/Natural Bridge area so that you will become a guest for a lifetime.  However, there are rare occasions that your cabin might not be fully presentable by 3 pm or when your hot tub won’t be warm until later in the evening, please accept our apology.  Remember, these are rare occasions.

SATELLITE TV:

All of our cabins have satellite television and DVD/VCR players.  From time to time, satellite TV, appliances, hot tubs, and water and electricity etc. will break down or malfunction.  While we cannot refund any monies due to these issues that may be beyond our control, we will respond as quickly as we can to make repairs and restore amenities.

FIREPLACES
:

Most of our cabins have some type of fireplace.  Gas and wood burning fireplaces are seasonal.  They are turned off beginning the first weekend in June and turned on the last weekend in September.

PHONES/CELL PHONES:

Our cabins do not have telephones.  You may or may not have cell phone service in the area due to the hills and forest.  We suggest bringing a prepaid calling card with you for long distance calls.  You may leave the number to the office in case of emergency…someone will get the message to you in a timely manner.

GROCERY STORES
:

You can find a Kroger’s in Stanton.  That is approximately 8 miles from your cabin.  There are a few convenience stores located in Slade, just a few miles from your cabin.

WOODLAND CREATURES AND INSECTS:

We do have our cabins exterminated, but they are not bug proof.  Please remember you are in the forest, and we have invaded their habitat, so chances are you will see insects and spiders and wasps.  You most likely will encounter various woodland creatures such as deer, wild turkey, raccoons for sure, squirrels and a wide variety of birds for bird watching.  Please do not feed or approach wildlife.  Do not leave food out at night; you may have uninvited guests at your cabin.
BEWARE:  This is snake country, so be very careful on your hikes.

WINTER WEATHER:

Our cabins are open year round.  Winter is one of the most beautiful seasons in the hills, with the forest open to view the ridges, rocks and wildlife.  Some of the driveways are steep, but we do our best to keep snow and ice removed so that your cabin will be accessible.  No refunds due to inclement weather.  Come on out, bring plenty of food and necessities and plan to get snowed in with us.

HUNTING, FIREARMS, FIREWORKS AND ATV’S:

Hunting, firearms, including paintball and air guns, and fireworks are NOT permitted on any of our properties.  You may bring your ATV to the property, but you cannot ride it on the property.  There are ATV trails in the Daniel Boone Forest about a half hour drive from most cabins.

SWIMMING AND FISHING:

We do not have swimming pools at our cabins.  We have a few cabins that have ponds for fishing.  There is an outdoor swimming pool (seasonal) at the Natural Bridge State Resort Park located on Route 11 that is available for public use for a small day use fee.
