Around the Area
The Red River Gorge and the Natural Bridge State Resort Park are both centrally located for travelers coming from the North or the South. This area is commonly know as the "Kentucky Rockies", world renowned for its rock climbing, and it is ever growing in popularity for its mountain biking, hiking and "Off Road" experiences. The natural bridge is 65 feet tall and 78 feet long. You can ride the sky lift up and then hike back to your car. It is amazing to see all of the steps that have been carved into the stone on your path down the mountain. The gorge is a National Natural Landmark, featuring over 100 natural sandstone arches. A trip through the Nada Tunnel (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) is one that your children will long remember and one day bring their own families back to relive their childhood memories.
These hills are alive with the sounds of Bluegrass. On any Friday and Saturday night, you can enjoy the activity at Hoe Down Island. Open to the public, you can experience clogging at its finest. You can even get out there and give it a whirl! That would be another memorable experience the kids are not likely to forget! Our Meadow Green Park Music Hall preserves the history of Bluegrass music, featuring local talent on Saturday nights from October through May.
Located about 2 hours from Cincinnati, Ohio and 2 hours from Louisville, Kentucky and an easy drive of about 3 to 4 hours from Indianapolis, Indiana, the Red River Gorge area has become a meeting place for family get-togethers, classmates wanting to get together to reminisce about the good 'ole days, or families just wanting to spend some quality time together without other distractions. A visit to the Natural Bridge affords you the opportunity to step back in time to home-style cooking and long walks in the woods. You can enjoy all of the beauty of Powell County while surrounding yourself with luxury in one of our premiere cabins.
The newest adventure in the area is a zip line that opened in June 2011. Contact our office for information on getting tickets for this exciting event!
Don't be fooled into thinking that the only time to visit this area is in the summer. If you want to see the rock formations, there is no time like the winter. Haven't you always dreamed of getting snowed in for a few days? Where better to do that than in your own luxurious cabin. Bring your favorite movies, food and PJ's and come experience what we have to offer. We look forward to seeing you!
